Important Notice: v10 Patch 2 Is Out… vSphere 7 Support, Cloud Connect Fixes and More!
Today, Veeam made available Patch 2 for Veeam Backup & Replication 10 (Build 10.0.0.461 P2). This is the second cumulative patch for v10 and contains a number of important fixes as part of issues reported by our customers since v10 was released in Feburary. For me, It’s great to see that within three months we have been able to identify a number of issues and resolved them making v10 an even more reliable platform. Having been responsible for the deployment and management of software platforms for a number of years, it has always surprised me how many Veeam customers upgrade to the latest version of the product within the first two to three months. That shows confidence in the development and reliability in the solution.
vSphere Compatibility, Performance and Cloud Connect Fixes:
As mentioned, patch 2 for Veeam Backup & Replication 10 (Build 10.0.0.461 P2) resolves a number of issues, but most significant is the offical supportability of vSphere 7 (vCenter and ESXi). That marks less than two months from its April 2nd GA to when we have announced full supportability. With regards to issues that have been resolved, the most significant from my point of view are the ones relating to Cloud Connect Infrastructure, fixes to higher than expected resource consumption on MSSQL servers and UI speed improvements.
Please confirm that you are running the GA build of version 10 (build 10.0.0.4461 or 10.0.0.4461 P1) prior to installing this update. You can check this under Help -> About in the Veeam Backup & Replication console. After upgrade, your build number will be 10.0.0.4461 P2
Service Provider and Cloud Connect Users:
It’s important to note that this patch is not compatible with the VCSP Cloud Connect infrastructure based on the RTM build 10.0.0.4442. VCSPs need to be on the GA build 10.0.0.4461 number prior to tenants upgrading! This in turn means that if any VCSPs are still on the RTM build the need to upgrade to the GA, P1 or P2 builds or else tenant backups will fail.
Once again, v10 P2 for Veeam Backup & Replication is an important patch, if you have the ability to download the update do so and have it applied to your installations… especially those VCSPs still running the RTM! It’s also important to note that there is a new build of the Veeam Backup & Replication ISO that includes the patch… so any new installations should use the updated ISO.
